I don't know. Many, many people only read a book once and then never read it again. From that point of view, once they have read it, it really doesn't matter if the book disappears in five years or not. They just want something to keep them amused on a plane ride or a vacation to the beach. According to a pew research survey published in October, half of all people who have read a book this year, read 4 or fewer books. The mean is 12 books, which mean that the high end (like people here) read a lot of books.
