My mini lathe is for wood only. I updated it with a 1 hp DC motor, variable speed control and a 10" chuck. I can turn just about anything with it.

my computer and modem : it's almost sad how much of my life revolves around them (work, play, communication, music, entertainment...)

my cellphone, although ironically not so much for the telephone function as for the really good camera it also is, and the alarm clock, and occasionally the agenda (because that also has an alarm). when i have to get up really early i program alarms at 2 or 3 different times and also add an event to the agenda, with an alarm on that too. i'm always worried i'll oversleep.

my wireless headphones which preserve my sanity when it's noisy here.

my mp3 player, although i rarely use it at home.

my electric kettle (or is that too low-tech ?) : the number of times i've felt like having some tea and then forgotten the water on the stove, and then about an hour an half later thought "hm, what's that funny smell ?", thank god for heating things that shut themselves off.

probably plenty more. i love gadgets, although i don't really have *that* many of them.
My list is similar to yours. The one gadget I would miss the most is a combo of the EEE and wireless modem: since most of my free time is while doing stuff in the house.
The iPod these day is mostly hooked up to the hifi in the shop with a remote control.
The wireless headphones are for listening to the tele for news or a good match while again doing chores around the house, or the shop.
