One would point out that Amazon does the same, you can only read it on their toys unless you remove the DRM (and yes, you can remove DRM from ebooks purchased from Apple). Some books do not have DRM, on Amazon and on Apple. Other ebook sales use a common DRM method which allows you to read on an ebook reader that supports that particular DRM method. You really shouldn't pretend that Apple is different simply because you don't like them.
