I read reviews. But only from people who I've invested time in and have learned their tastes. Like my friends at booklikes, or other social reading sites.
Random stranger reviews only work for me if they are telling me the book is full of errors, amateur, etc and hence I'll avoid it. Random reviews don't draw me to a book, but they keep me from wasting time on a lot of dreck.
