1- There are very cheap cases and sleeves at Amazon. You will probably like it enough to want to spend a few bucks protecting it.

2- You can get 32GB cards for under us$10. I've bought SANDISK 32GB for $8.50. Prices vary with time.

3- You can add Google Play without rooting, if that matters to you.

Other than that it is an Amazon-centric Android tablet. Minimal learning curve if you're familiar with Android foibles.
