That should not have been possible on a factory stock KT2.
(You could sign in as 'framework' but not 'root' with "mario" in the diags system.)
I received my KT2 on the first USA release date and documented the contents of the files that control logins based on that one, you may have a newer or different firmware.
(For the main filesystem only, not for the diags filesystem.)
Did you get that KT2 new, yourself? (not new as a gift)
Or has it passed through other hands between its sale and when you received it?
What you are reporting may be a very significant change in the firmware.
We really need to know about the details.
