Last year, I bought a T1 from Ebay and have had no battery issues. The T3 battery is even better. I've had the reader in hand for about 2 months now and I've not run the battery down past halfway yet. It's only charged for brief periods of time (no longer than an hour) from my computer when loading books onto it.
The other Sonys I've had, I was charging every 2-3 days. Even my Nook HD needs to charge every week, week and a half. The T3's battery life is simply the best I've seen yet. It does have a Public Library setting. I've not tried it to see if it'd be compatible with the 3M system my library uses.
