The standard approach is to use a metadata plugboard to massage the book's title to include the series info. I for instance prepend an abbreviation of the series name and the series index, so for instance O - 01 - Outlander for the first book in the Outlander series, or HP - 03 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
