There seems to be AFKPageFlipper (ULView subclass) available and author claims it is very fast to execute in both portraite and landscape on iPad/iPhone.

Thank you for your concrete suggestion! We'll certainly consider it for future releases.

By the way, as of today is there any iOS reading app with the page turn animation as listed in (1) above?
