I gather from the comments that the problem with Kindle for Android is that its latest version doesn't allow the creation of the necessary backup file. I don't think there's much to be done on the tools side except to say you need to use an earlier version of Kindle for Android.

Doesn't the latest Kindle for Android have the kfx format? It doesn't matter if it did work because you can't do anything with kfx files anyway.
