All the files in the upgrade package should be used together. While using just the "KoboRoot.tgz" is safe, there are sometimes changes that need changes in the kernel. There have been a couple of strange problems reported that were tracked down to the kernel not being updated properly.
Thanks for the info. So should I be able to do a manual upgrade from 3.12.1 to 3.16 without issue? On the Aura, of course.
