I think this is only something the Calibre developers can fix, in making sure the application interface is compliant with the 1024 x 600 resolution found on all the popular Netbooks.
You can of course use the command line parts of calibre without using the UI.

Also, there is a bug in the current version where size changes don't save unless you quit from the tray (happened in Mac, may be in Windows too).
