You are not getting the point. Was just an example. Win10 is meant to be run on each and every device you own. Just so everything runs and looks the same. Why they have universal apps. You can setup any cloud system you want, but you have to set it up first. What MS is doing so that you don't have to set it up, just log in and go - whether it is your tablet, phone, computer. You can argue that you can do everything better with linux (which one - all a garbled mess with incompatible to each other distros). Which OS do you recommend that will run on everything? Never seen a linux phone. MacOS and iOS talk somewhat to each other, but they are not even close to being the same. Android on a desktop? Doable, but would you really want to - it would just be a giant tablet, no more useful. Is Win10 and Win10phone going to be right from the start? No, of course not. But MS has been working to integrate those two for quite a while. Forced updates so that each machine that needs to work together works together is great - no need to worry which weird combination of updates you chose or not to install. A computer on build 89 is going to be just like another one on build 89 feature wise. You can't have it both ways: either the user is in full control and support has to keep track of 50 million issues, or everybody has to have the same features to let support focus on one configuration. You are not on the latest build, then there is your problem - update to latest build and see uf you still have the problem. Others will have the same problem and it can get fixed for everybody.

Do I like getting control ripped out of my hands? No, but I can see where MS is coming from.
