A reputable router manufacturers build quality is probably better than the brand PC manufacturer's. Attach a cooled USB 3.0 disk dock, a couple of Black Caviars and you'll probably have a lot better home server than you'll get off the shelf from HP or Dell - at half the price.

In Singapore I can get 100/100 mbps in an HDB flat. I have friends in Lithuania (pop 3m) and Estonia who have similar deals. Here, 8km from the Sydney CBD (pop 5m), I'm lucky to get 20/2 mbps for a substantially higher tariff. 'Aaah but', say TPTB, 'our fireworks are better.'
