This is a slightly different but related issue.
I've recently purchased Icarus Illumina XL, and tried setting it up with all the various apps, including Calibre Companion. Unfortunately, the "app store" that they have on it does not have any option to get paid apps, nor does it allow to actually log in into any Google account.
I did purchase CC before, so I extracted the apk from my phone and installed it on the device. Except when I try to connect to the computer it gives me the Application not licensed message. If I install Play Store, the message does go away (even though the Play Store is useless, it doesn't even open) and I can run everything normally. Except the issue is that the touch screen stops responding properly when I read; after a while it either refuses to turn the page until the second touch, or skips two pages at once. And unfortunately there are no physical buttons on it. Only after uninstalling Play Store I can read normally.
This leaves me quite in a conundrum. I remember you mentioning before that you do have a boyue device which runs the same operating system, so I was wondering if you have a solution to this. I'll be happy to buy a separate license for the ereader if needed.
