A friend of mine got a Fire HD 10 as a gift for Xmas. He is quite satisfied with it even though it has terrible screen resolution IMO. He doesn't know that though. A step back, or a fast retreat rather, to the dark ages of LCD screen resolution. But he won't use it to read. The Fires are more about multimedia; watching videos, playing games, etc. My friend is 60, has very little knowledge of computers or any technology, and therefore doesn't over think the specs, nor even understand them. Read what you will into that statement. Face it, there are people who would by an SDTV rather than HDTV if they were still marketed, not because they like SDTV better but because they are ignorant to tech specs and thus don't bother to give a rats backside. To be honest, those tech challenged people will probably never give the screen resolution much thought unless someone points it out and places their 300+ ppi screen right next to the Fire's 159 ppi screen, and maybe not even then. Ignorance is bliss, especially to a sales giant like Amazon who turns out lackluster Fires. I will allow my friend to remain ignorant of the terrible resolution because he is happy with the device, but I would not have recommended a Fire to him had he asked about tablets.
