Shouldn't my copying and pasting the space have ensured that it searched for that particular space? Even if another instance was a different space and not 'found', the original copied one should have been.

I did later manage to get it to find that, but only by changing 'All Text Files' to 'Current File'. Why would searching current file match the character, while searching the exact same thing, nothing else changed, with all text NOT match?

Since I can't recreate it -- even by copying it into another epub!! -- it will have to remain an odd occurrence I suppose. I've been experiencing lots of weirdness lately with the search panel...just lucky I guess :
