As this was in the time before landline phones could show the caller's number (in the Netherlands), we couldn't do anything about it. Now those people are probably all dead, as there is no one to tell them the correct number to reach the doctor.
I have always wondered how an entire family of people can be that awesomely stupid.

Several years ago we got a new prefix and a hospital changed their number to said prefix. I got numerous calls: hi this is Dr X, has Y Z been admitted yet? Or this is Dr G what can I do for you?
I just told them you need to dial a 2 instead of the 0.
It was about 3 months before fingers were retrained to go up not down.
