That would be the curse of the Windows 10 upgrade.

Some people are finding that Windows isn't reporting their ereader as a removable drive -- at least, Windows Explorer may know but it isn't telling other programs.

No solution has been suggested except a complete reinstall of Windows -- only people who upgraded in-place have reported the problem.
