I do not think this unequivocal advice is helpful to an e-ink device newbie. If it was have a look also at Kobo I would not disagree. I own both a Kobo H2O and a Paperwhite. I like Kobo and wish them well. However, in many ways Kobo is their own worst enemy, and the overall experience with Amazon is far superior.

My own opinion is that a Kindle is usually the better choice for the vast majority of Purchasers who want to keep things simple and will in practice mostly pick an "ecosystem" and stick to it. In this case it is Amazon first and daylight second. One caveat is for those who intend to borrow from libraries and reside outside of the United States, where libraries are not permitted to lend in Kindle formats. If this is very important the decision will be a lot more difficult. On the other side, if you plan to subscribe to Kindle Unlimited a Kindle is even more desirable.
