MP3 Player with Bookmarking

Hi All, been reading the threads here, but unfortunately I seem to be in the minority in either needs and technical availability.

I've been looking for a considerable amount of time for a MP3 player for listening to Audiobooks and Podcasts on. Now here is the kicker, I run Linux (no Windows or OSX in my house). I've got a couple of mp3 players that I've tested out, and I've been able to overcome the files being listed randomly in the mp3 player, however I have yet to find one that I can bookmark mp3 files.

The Philips Vibe I found if I convert mp3 to m4b I can bookmark the file and come back later, however I find this a little frustrating as not only do I need to convert, I need to increase the audio volume (the player is really quiet) and sort the filesystem to keep files in numeric/alphabetic order.

The Sansa Zip looks interesting, does that support bookmarking of mp3 files at all?
