Nook glowlight USB problem

The first day I had it, I got it working on the computer, was able to transfer books to it, but any time I disconnected, that usb port wasn't working for it anymore. I figured the problem would go away with a reboot. No such luck.
Today, I was getting errors connecting, in device manager there was an error about "device descriptor request failed" after multiple times attempting to uninstall and rebooting, I'm no longer getting the error, but the nook is showing up as an empty drive: as in I get a notice to insert a disk when I click on the drive that shows up.
I don't seem to be getting any further on this, and the B&N forums seem to know I had an account, but don't let me in or send my username or password.
I'm on windows 10
