As I have mentioned before there are applications that allow one to set the text and the paper from as black as ones display is capable of to as white as it is capable of and any colour using RGB mixing i.e. the paper and text can be any combination of the colour spectrum (so an essentially infinite choice), including black and white and brightness that one wants. One just sets it up and that is it, no need to play around with the display's own controls and if brightness needs changing it is just a click and a slider in the reading application itself.

Now I am only familiar with Windows and an example of a free application that runs under Windows 8 through 10 is Freda built by Turnipsoft. The free version has unobtrusive advertising that is not present when reading (and it can be blocked with a firewall), the paid version does not.

Note that before anyone starts claiming Windows or Freda are rubbish, I am not promoting them but just giving them as an example. The nub is that given the paucity of applications for Windows 8 and 10 devices and the multitudes of them for Android, etc., I would have assumed that reading applications with such complete flexibility in paper and text would have been a dime a dozen for Android, etc. devices and even richer in features than the few Windows ones.

Is that not so?
