I'm not adept at reading calibre logs, but the current version of Calibre is 2.47.0.

If you don't have access to a machine that can run it - does your ancient version have the option to "attempt to support newer firmware" in the Kobo plugin? Have you updated the plugin to the latest version?

ETA: googling around, it appears that another problem may be that your device can't be detected by your computer at all? In which case, you can get books onto it wirelessly using the Calibre Content Server.
