I did this once. It was, umm, unsatisfactory.
I was always tweaking my fonts and I ended up with books with different fonts and different versions of fonts all over the place. Never knew what font I'd get when I opened a book. Plus, the unnecessary duplication offended my sensibility

This is not How It Should Be Done.
The font hack lets me have several custom fonts to choose from at any time. In addition, I can change the font used in the UI and make the menu, dictionary, and library listing much more pleasant and readable. The font hack alone is worth the price of admission

It's a major reason I still stick with my PW2 and pray I don't break it. I'm handicapped and a serial JB is quite beyond me.
