The last of the prequels. clearly written after the other prequels, since it refers to specific earlier events that were only hazily alluded to in "Sharpe's Rifles", and that will probably not get a mention at all in the next novel, which was the first to be written.
Despite this, I think that internal chronological order is definitely the right way to read this series.
