No. They're just giving an example of an ePub reader. A book doesn't have to have DRM to be opened with ADE.

Currently Carina Press offers ePub formats for use on all devices.
Alternately, if you prefer your book to be in another format, you may consider purchasing the ePub format and using free software Calibre to convert your file into further formats via their simple process.
