Not quite. Let's try this, exactly step-by-step:
  • Open calibre
  • Click the Preferences button
  • Choose Miscellaneous
  • Click "Open calibre configuration directory"
  • In the Windows Explorer window that appears, go into the 'plugins' folder
  • Look for the files named "KePub Metadata Reader.zip" and "KePub Metadata Writer.zip". Note that depending on your settings, you may not see the ".zip" part of the file name and that's perfectly OK.
  • Leaving the Windows Explorer window open, go back to calibre and remove the KePub Metadata Reader and KePub Metadata Writer plugins.
  • Close calibre
  • Wait for at least 1 minute to pass before doing this next step:
    • Go back to the Windows Explorer window, press the F5 key, and see if you can find the files I had you look for earlier. If you can, delete them both. If not, that's good, you shouldn't be seeing them now.
  • Open calibre
  • Install the KePub Metadata Reader and KePub Metadata Writer plugins
  • Close calibre
  • Go back to the Windows Explorer window, press the F5 key, and see if you can find the files you looked for earlier. If not, that's bad. If you can see them, that's good.
  • Open calibre
  • Check what version of the plugins is installed
  • If (and ONLY IF) the plugins are not at the latest version, proceed with the next steps. Otherwise, stop here and report back how it all went.
    • Copy (NOT move! Very important!) both files to somewhere else, like your downloads folder or your desktop.
    • Come back to this page and make a new reply on this thread
    • Upload both files you just copied to a new reply including how everything went and anything you saw that seemed unusual compared to what I've described here.
