I live the present. I just hope the company makes their devices more Open-Source.
Seriously, I would love to see a cyanogen-like Android fork targeted at eink devices. OpenInkPot was an interesting effort, but unfortunately it died.
I'm not a fan of Android, but it's a somewhat popular OS and has lots of apps. I would prefer a more lightwight approach, but I'm afraid that would make a lot more difficult to have available apps for the platforms.
That's why I got an Android eink device: I can install apps, the Android ones can be patched or the developers themselves can fix them.
I'm okay with this device, but I just hope the firmware gets improved A LOT. There's need to have a stronger developer community too, I hope distributors and the manufacturer stimulate it. I know they release some source, but I mean an active community and even actively support projects like KOreader...
