The fact that people can and do get bad CS from Kobo, often enough to make it become an actual meme about Kobo, means that for someone who sees CS as the main factor in choosing a device, Kobo is NOT a good choice.

Maybe you get good service from Kobo CS. But far more likely, you don't.
The fact that certain longtime Kobo-owning members here are okay with the level of CS they get, does not fill me with confidence.
The fact that the majority of discussions about Kobo CS involve people complaining about it, does not fill me with confidence.

I am willing to acknowledge that Kobo CS *can* be good, and *can* result in satisfactory outcomes.
But one does not choose a device based on whether the main determining factor *can* work out, but doesn't have to and in fact usually doesn't.
