Android devices such as the i86 always have a much shorter battery life than a dedicated Linux reading device such as the Kindle, Kobo, etc, because Android is doing a lot more in the background. I think you'll find that most of the power drain is occurring when it's in sleep mode; this doesn't happen with conventional readers.

Android gives you a lot more flexibility, but there is a price to pay for that in terms of power consumption.
