You will also want the Find Duplicates plugin. When doing the same sort of work I ran it at the beginning to find obvious duplicates and after adding metadata to find the rest of my duplicates.
Once everything is properly labelled it is actually quite simple to copy desired books into another library (select book(s) -right click -select copy to library).
