The standard issue apps on our tablets and phones usually don't have much in the way of options. Eg; on iOS, iBooks, the Kindle app and the Google play books app have three different options. Black on white, white on black or sepia.

I've read eBooks on LCD devices for many years (lost count, but at least 15) and never had a problem, but I adjust the paper colour in the reader application.

This is important I think. I've been reading on LCD devices since 2000, and have come to have an expectation of being able to make the changes I want. People who have moved recently from dead tree books to LCD devices either don't know, don't care, or don't want to pay for additional options, by actually buying an application which allows you to read more comfortably. IN the words of a friend of mine "Why should I pay for something I get for free?". He just has no concept of reading in anything other than iBooks, and won't consider alternatives.
