The Hunt by Oscar de Muriel is a festive holiday short story in his A Case for Frey & McGray series of historical mysteries set in 1880s Edinburgh starring a Scotland Yard Inspector, this installment involving the obligatory return home to England for Christmas, only to have the obligatory busman's holiday, free courtesy of publisher Penguin.
This is being made available to promote the upcoming 2nd-in-series, and may well stay free in the long term as an introductory short.
Currently free @
B&N (also
UK),
Amazon (available to Canadians & in the
UK),
Kobo &
iTunes &
Google Play (all available to Canadians).
This is also free for the holidays as an audiobook both via Audible and DRM-free via Audiobooks.com, please see
skinmaan's post in the Audiobooks megathread for details and linkage.
And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.
Because not only do we get a freebie short story to introduce us to a hopefully nifty new historical mystery series, we also get the accompanying audiobook version of it as well, also free, which makes for a very nicely co-ordinated seasonal promotion.
Enjoy!
