I personally keep my own tracking information to myself. It's nobody's business but my own how many and which books I've read this year...

I have my list set as public. If I inspire someone to read books that I've read, all the better. I'm a member of several groups on Goodreads and it's a great way to find more authors in your areas of interest. Several members leave their racy books off their lists. Even if it's private, if it's on the internet, it's public.
