If it's not convenient to get up and charge your device you might want to consider a portable charger that you can keep on your night stand. You can even use them to charge while reading.
I have one on my nightstand for an MP3 player so I can listen to an OTR show in the middle of the night if I wake up and if the battery dies I don't have to get up to keep going. It works out nicely and I can listen just fine while charging it.
The charger I have is about the size of a deck of cards and I have charged my Kindle with it a few times. I never tested it but charging the Kindle took about the same amount of juice from it that charging the MP3 player does and it can charge that player several times. It also charges pretty quickly.
