I had misread your first post somehow. I thought you were talking about the PW3, which does have shorter battery life.
I've had 2 Kindle 3's and I currently have a Paperwhite 1 and a Paperwhite 2 and both get the same sort of battery life as my Kindle 3's used to get. It's only the Voyage and the PW3 that get less battery life.
