Actually, I thought a broom would bring laughter. Harry or Jim, I think it was Jim does explain that flying on a broom is not impossible, theoretically. Except that the slightest mistake (falling off) might be fatal. So nobody does it. Doesn't mean flying on broom is impossible in the Dresden verse.
