I think the airplane will bother me less than the constant "No SIM card" reminders, so I put mine back.
If it was just the icon, I could deal. But the reminder keeps coming back even when I clear it.

Good point. I didn't think about the battery.
I have mine all set to be my music player. It sounds fine through the headphones. I'm going to try the Amazon app for a while. I have it set to play just the songs on the SD card.
