Did you perchance test the credit on a couponable book and apply a coupon on checkout?

Wondering because my friend signed up for an account during that $5 credit offer sometime back, and the credit was being automatically applied as coupon code "NEW" at checkout. She couldn't apply the working 90% code I sent her, which she'd rather use for the $40 book she wanted, and was frustrated there didn't seem to be an option to not use that weird credit/code.
A while back in this thread, it was talked about that they stopped allowing the use of BOTH the credit AND a coupon. And if you have a credit, it automatically applies. The auto-apply was the case even when they allowed a coupon to be applied as well (which did not last very long if I recall).
