When I hold on the app, the Google box fades out when the Remove appears.

Typing in "Amazon prime music" failed on the second letter, and "Prime Music" failed on the third. The Play store is where I'm supposed to be looking? And I've got it in airplane mode, with no phone account, in case that will make a difference.

What do you mean by "failed"? I just tap the search box at the top, the keyboard comes up, and I start typing. No problems getting to the apps.
I am using it the same way you are, airplane mode, no phone.

There's a
user manual that may help. I haven't looked at this one yet, but the one for my first generation Moto E was helpful when I couldn't figure out what I was doing.
