If you want to remove something from the home screen, just press and hold for a moment till you see the options Remove and Uninstall. Then drag the icon to either option. Remove will just get it off the screen. I believe the NFL app can't be uninstalled.

And (2) how would I get Amazon's Prime Music app to get here? I tried to search for it in the "Play Store" and it just quits as soon as I reach the third character I type in. Oh, and the Audible app too please.
I don't know why there should be a problem; I found and installed Prime Music with no trouble. Maybe there was just a glitch when you tried.

And after that, how would I connect it to my computer to download mp3s?
Just connect to the computer with a USB cable, at the bottom of the phone--the same port the charger goes in. If you have a Clip Zip or Clip Sport, that USB cable fits.

[i did get my micro SD card in OK. I am grateful for the hint about removing the ring before using the blue cover! However I don't like it that much, so I'll skip it, now that I removed the ring once for the SD card.]
Yes, me too! I couldn't get the blue cover to fit right. I had no idea that there was a band to remove, since initially I didn't add the SD card. I like it on mine since it helps me differentiate this device from my first gen Moto E phone.
