In all seriousness, the short answer is: No, you can't do this. The long answer is: If you're looking at the files themselves, you're doing something wrong.

Pretend those files don't exist. Pretend they're locked up inside a magical black box that you can't see into. Now, with this assumption, figure out how to use Calibre to do what you want. Chances are, you'll come up with a new work flow that's as easy as, or possibly even easier than, what you've been doing before.
