You've hit the ones that I could think of off the top of my head but I am bookmarking this.

These don't have much in the historical/religious twist that I know of but these fit in with several of the other authors you listed:
  • David Baldacci (Camel Club and other series)
  • Stephen Hunter (Bob Lee Swagger)

Here are some specific books that might be close, I have read the first three but the others are from my TBR list:
  • The Watchlist (The Chopin Manuscript and The Copper Bracelet) by Jeffery Deaver and others (a bunch of authors worked together on these)
  • Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson
  • The Delta Chain by Iain Edward Henn
  • The Manuscript by Russell Blake
  • The Shakespeare Manuscript by Stewart Buettner
