Hi,
Apple keeps dropping earlier versions for its XCode compiler. I have not updated to XCode 7 yet, just to keep Mac OS X 10.9 still buildable on Mac OS X.
If someone has access to a Mac OS X 10.8.5 system with its version of XCode, there is no reason why they could not build a version of Sigil that runs on Mac OS X 10.8.5.
I only have access to one Mac OS X box capable of building anything, and so when I upgrade to the latest tools, we will lose support for earlier version of Mac OS X (probably including 10.9). Many developers specifically keep old Mac OS X boxes around to make builds for earlier versions, but I unfortunately do not have the time or boxes availalbe to do that.
If you could find someone with an earlier box and compiler tools, I would be happy to talk them through making their own builds on that version of Mac OS X.
