I fell in love with it on the spot. So I asked if they would let me bring it into the conference room (that was next to us) and if we could turn off the overhead lights, so I could see the screen's lighting in a dark room. She did let me, and I could see that the lighting was perfect. So I bought it.
But it was just pure luck that it happened that way. I would never set out to buy a kindle from a store. Not unless they let me open and turn it on to inspect it, first.

I was the same. Having had a warning letter from Amazon before the Voyage was released about too many returns I was far too worried to consider buying one from them so at first I resisted then on impulse bought one from my local Argos and it was perfect
I'd love an updated Voyage (if one ever comes out) but again I can't see me chancing one from Amazon, it will be Argos or John Lewis.
