I ended up remembering another dislike of my NST: the sunken display that doesn't sit flush with the bezel. Unless I'm mistaken, the Kindle Voyage is the only current option from Amazon/B&N/Kobo that offers that feature, though. I'm not a super hardcore reader, so I don't know that I can justify the price jump for it.
The Voyage is a lovely device, but then so is the GLO HD. For the extra price of the Voyage you not only get a flush screen/bezel but also hepatic buttons and adaptive lighting. I do think the text is sharp on the Voyage but it also is on the GLO HD but that has a sunken screen. The GLO HD also allows sharper darker fonts than any Kindle plus you can side load your own fonts if you want to and it's much more customisable than the kindles. Saying that though the Kindles do just work without any flaffing around, it's rare to get any software issues with a kindle.

I'd be careful with the new Nook Glow as its not treated as an external hard drive, you might want to check out the Nook forum or even the Calibre forum to see how Calibre treats it for side loading.

In my view side loading directly from a Calibre is best for the Kobos as it treats the Calibre bookshelf as the collection, for the kindles you have to manage the collections on the device once you have loaded your book which is fine after the initial set up but a pain when setting one up from scratch if you plan to send hundreds of books to it via Calibre.
