Heck you can still find kindle 2 on eBay if you want one for some reason.

You're right, but I'm funny when it comes to Kindles. I won't purchase from anyone but Amazon. It's because of their superb return policy. I'm
really picky about the display.
Of all the kindles I have purchased, ALL but my Keyboard Kindle had some kind of screen issue. My K4 had fuzzy and faded e-ink and required 3 exchanges before getting a good one. And both Paperwhites (v1 & v2) had lighting issues and had to be exchanged several times as well. All exchanges arrived within 24 hrs and even though I had all 3 replacements in my possession, I wasn't charged for any of them. (we have 30 days to return them before they charge us)
Even the nicest BestBuy store won't tolerate repeated exchanges. And you definitely can't do that with eBay purchases.
The Paperwhite lighting was such a nightmare, that I was initially afraid to buy a Voyage. I actually got my Voyage in BestBuy, but it was totally unplanned. I really just went there to look at the display model, to decide if I even
wanted one. Well they didn't have any display models, so the sales person agreed to open one up for me to look at.
I fell in love with it on the spot. So I asked if they would let me bring it into the conference room (that was next to us) and if we could turn off the overhead lights, so I could see the screen's lighting in a dark room. She did let me, and I could see that the lighting was perfect. So I bought it.
But it was just pure luck that it happened that way. I would never set out to buy a kindle from a store. Not unless they let me open and turn it on to inspect it, first.
