The earlier information you posted makes it look like the output is alright outbound from the Kindle but the replies are being blocked.

That means "broken" iptables relative to when it was working.
And you didn't do it.

So the other choices are:
Something about the on-line screensaver hack has been broken -
Or
The OTA update to 4.1.3 broke them.

They are not completely broken, because USB networking isn't bein blocked in-bound or out-bound.
That is normal, the USB cable doesn't (normally) have any firewall protections.

I am not familar with the on-line screensaver hack, so I don't know what it does or expects to be done with the Wifi firewall.

You'll need to examine that scripting yourself.
