I've always upgraded my devices when new versions come out. But the older I get, the closer I am to approaching a time when I might not be able to afford to plunk down $200 whenever I feel like it. Or maybe I will be able to afford it, but the Voyage will no longer be available; and maybe I won't like the current model.
The fear of thinking that my Kindle might break at a time when I can't replace it, drives me to want to buy one now, while I'm still able to.

If you have the $200 to spend on a spare, just save it. Chances are by the time you need a spare, there will most likely be a new version.
